  The bank advises citizens to go to the outlets to exchange Winter Olympics banknotes

  The commemorative banknotes of the 24th Winter Olympic Games (Beijing Winter Olympics) began to be exchanged yesterday.

In order to avoid waiting in line, the bank staff said that the redemption date is until December 27, and it is recommended that you come to the outlets to redeem on a staggered peak.

  Yesterday afternoon, a reporter from the Beijing Youth Daily came to the business department of the Bank of China Beijing Branch in Dongcheng District and saw a "Commemorative Banknote Exchange Reminder" posted on the gate to remind the changers to prepare their ID cards and cash, and to indicate the direction of the line.

In the lobby, the staff proactively reminded every incoming customer: "The waiting customers have been queued for several tens of meters, and now it takes at least an hour to change the commemorative banknotes."

  The staff member said that the exchange period is from December 21st to December 27th, and there is a week, and it is okay to come and change in a few days.

Customers who have to go to work on weekdays don’t have to worry. The branch can also exchange commemorative banknotes on Saturdays and Sundays.

  According to the announcement of the central bank, a set of 2 Winter Olympics banknotes are issued this time, each including 1 ice sports and 1 snow sports, with a denomination of 20 yuan, and the number of issued 200 million sets (including the retained historical currency archives of 40,000 set).

According to the unified arrangement of the Central Bank, the number of scheduled exchanges for the Beijing Winter Olympics is 11.5 million sets. The Beijing Branch of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, the Beijing Branch of Bank of China, and the Beijing Branch of China Construction Bank jointly undertake the scheduled exchange work.

  According to the appointment results announced by the Central Bank, a total of 137.6 million sets of commemorative banknotes were reserved for the National Winter Olympics, with a total appointment rate of 68.84%.

It is understood that the commemorative banknotes previously issued by the central bank were all 10, 50 or 100 yuan in denominations. This is the first time the commemorative banknotes issued are 20 yuan.
