His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, stressed the importance of the tourism sector as a prominent contributor to achieving sustainable development in the country, and to introducing tourists from different countries of the world to various tourist attractions.

His Highness, while receiving in the presence of Sheikh Saqr bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, a commemorative postage stamp bearing the image of "Jebel Jais", issued by "Emirates Post Group" in cooperation with the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, that the documentation of "Jebel Jais" this lofty landmark, through Issuing its own stamp, which is an embodiment of the UAE's position and presence on the global tourism map, and a consolidation of Ras Al Khaimah's ambitions to enhance its growth in this vital sector.

His Highness praised the partnership between the Emirates Post Group and the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, and the cooperation aimed at enhancing the country's tourism position and consolidating its global reputation in this sector, as well as its important role in documenting the landmarks of the Emirates and contributing to advancing the process of growth and progress.

The issuance of the commemorative stamp comes within the framework of the group’s commitment to support national efforts to promote tourism in the UAE, and to contribute to documenting the most prominent historical, cultural, natural, archaeological and tourist attractions in the country, as Jebel Jais is one of the most distinguished natural landmarks, as it is the highest mountain peak in the country.

Abdullah Al Ashram, CEO of Emirates Post Group, said: “We are honored to deliver this commemorative stamp to His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, who, with his wise vision and wise guidance, was able to make Jebel Jais an environmental and agricultural wealth. Al-Ashram added: “We are pleased to allocate stamps bearing the image of Jebel Jais as the highest peak in the UAE, and part of the magnificent Al Hajar Mountains chain that was formed more than 70 million years ago in the eastern part of Ras Al Khaimah. To document our unique civilization through a set of distinctive commemorative stamps that embody the historical, cultural, natural and tourist richness of our homeland and lead it towards steady steps towards global leadership.”

The new collection of commemorative stamps features the mountaintop chain that formed 70 million years ago, and the 1,934-meter summit of Jebel Jais.

These picturesque mountainous areas are generally characterized by natural richness and varied terrain, which is an ideal opportunity for mountain picnics, cycling and mountain adventures.

Jebel Jais is also known for its unique climate, with a temperature that is 10 degrees lower than the coast in summer, with a sharp drop in winter, especially with snow sometimes falling on the top of the mountain.
