How are you going to celebrate the holidays?

A survey carried out by Moovit, an application which has one billion users worldwide and which helps you on the move, especially in public transport and by bicycle, gives some leads.

The car will be privileged, less festivities than usual especially for New Year's Day and very reduced trips abroad: these are the main conclusions of this study carried out with more than 4,600 Moovit users.

Among those who will not celebrate Christmas this year, for a third, it will be only because of the health situation while 20% explain that the new Omicron variant will affect their movements in the coming days.

Travel mainly in France

However, the French will move to find their loved ones: 70% of those questioned will celebrate Christmas, but a little less than 50% will celebrate New Year's Day.

And the planned trips will be mainly in France.

Those who have had the urge to escape have often ended up giving up.

"There is still almost one in two French people who had planned to move abroad, or who used to move abroad who this year completely cancels their trips. Exactly, to do something more local, ”says Michael Brami, European sales director for Moovit.

A phenomenon which is even "more amplified [with] the New Year celebrations", he tells the microphone of Europe 1.

The car, solution number 1

Whether it's Christmas or New Year's Day, most of those who travel will do so with their car.

The French then favor public transport, and for 17% of them, it will be the train or the plane.

Results in the image of what was observed in the mobility of the French in 2021: the automobile, solution number 1, by far.
