Chinanews.com, Nanchang, December 11 (Reporter Li Yunhan) On the 11th, as one of the important sub-events of the 2nd Poyang Lake International Bird Watching Week, the Carbon Peak Carbon Neutral Entrepreneur Forum was held in Nanchang, focusing on "creating a green Poyang Lake, boost the zero-carbon Yangtze River".

"Wetlands are known as the'kidney of the earth', full of agile life, and also have strong carbon sink capabilities. It is one of the most important carbon pools on the planet." said Wu Zhimin, Director of the Wetland Management Department of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration China is a big wetland country. Protecting wetlands is not only conducive to the sustainable economic and social development of our country, but also a major contribution to achieving carbon peaks and carbon neutrality.

"Poyang Lake is China's largest freshwater lake. Half of the finless porpoises live here, and 95% of the world's white cranes live here." Qiu Shuiwen, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Jiangxi Forestry Bureau, said that the Jiangxi Forestry Bureau has been working hard to consolidate forestry carbon in recent years. We will continue to increase the amount of carbon sinks in forestry, continue to promote the realization of the value of forestry carbon sinks and other measures, and actively explore solutions for the green transformation of the economy and society of the Poyang Lake basin based on nature.

Wang Yanxin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and president of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), mentioned at the forum that the Yangtze River is the mother river, the source of Chinese civilization, and an important ecological barrier for the country.

However, the economic belt of the Yangtze River Basin has high energy consumption and large CO2 emissions. Taking 2019 as an example, they accounted for 35.95% and 36.99% of the country respectively.

He believes that the Yangtze River basin must use hydrogen, geothermal, uranium and lithium zero-carbon resources to vigorously develop green and low-carbon industries and promote the construction of an ecological Yangtze River.

During the forum activities, the "Yangtze River Conservation Issues Alliance", the "Green Paper on Ecological Protection and Restoration of the Yangtze River" and the "Zero-Carbon Yangtze River Thousand Enterprises Action Network" initiated by the Hubei Yangtze River Ecological Protection Foundation (CCF) were officially launched, becoming One of the important contents and achievements of the Yangtze River protection under the dual-carbon background.

The “Green Paper on Ecological Protection and Restoration of the Yangtze River” launched at the forum was organized and compiled by the CCF, the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Alxa SEE Foundation and the East China Sea Project Center, aiming to further promote and strengthen the ecological environment of the Yangtze River Basin Protection, to provide policy advice for the implementation of the green development strategy of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and to stimulate and promote different stakeholders to actively participate in the protection and restoration of the Yangtze River.

The book has also become one of the exploration content in the field of emission reduction and adaptation.
