The two-wheeler market is doing well.

In November alone, the increase compared to November 2020 reached 33.3% with 10,238 registrations according to AAA Data data relayed by BFM.

In the motorcycle segment, since the start of the year, sales have increased by 9.3% with 182,585 units sold.

For cars, this increase is only 2.53%.

For this month of November, Yamaha is at the top of motorcycle sales with 1,591 registrations and an increase of 5.7%.

Several competitors benefited from double-digit sales growth: Honda (1,348 registrations, + 49.3%), BMW (1,317 registrations, + 36.1%), Kawasaki (694 registrations, + 86.6%) and Triumph (553 registrations, + 78.4%).

Harley Davidson is taking advantage of this trend with a jump of 24.62%.

Electric motorcycle boom

The same goes for small-engine specialists. Mash sales are up 65.85%, Orcal by 21.05%, Brixton by 27.91% and Masai by 54.56%. One of the strongest gains is to the credit of Zero Motorcycles, the electric motorcycle specialist whose sales jumped 166.67%. For its part, SuperSocco is sticking to a solid increase in sales of 130.61%.

As for scooters, it is the explosion of electric motorization. Pink Mobility's sales jump by 1,400%, Silence's by 769.23% and Niu's by 357.14%. It is not only the youth of these companies which explains these figures but also the tendency in the big agglomerations, points out BFM. Drivers are looking for an ecological, economical mobility solution that avoids paying parking for thermal two-wheelers. In Paris, it was postponed to September 2022.

The 100% electric two-wheeler solution is also supported by subsidies.

In Paris, the aid can go up to 900 euros, which makes it possible to finance half the price of a 50 cc equivalent or 20 to 25% of a 125 cc equivalent.

The major manufacturers are starting to align themselves with this segment.

BMW will release a futuristic scooter, the CE04, in 2022. For its part, Kawasaki will offer ten electric motorcycles in its catalog in 2025 and no more thermal motorcycles by 2035.
