Itoham, a major food manufacturer, announced that it will raise the prices of all its own products from March next year, except for those developed jointly with supermarkets and convenience stores, in response to soaring prices of raw materials such as pork and beef. ..
Nippon Ham also announced price increases for ham and other products last week, and there are a series of moves to review prices.
"Itoham" announced that it will raise the price of 230 items such as ham and sausage sold nationwide when delivering to customers from March 1st next year.
All in-house products except "private brand" products developed jointly with supermarkets and convenience stores are covered, and the price increase range is 4% to 14%.
Of these, we will raise the price of sausages such as our main product "Grand Alt Bavarian" by about 6%, and pizza and snacks by about 10%.
The price increase will be the first in about seven and a half years since July 2014.
The company says that this is because the purchase prices of raw materials such as pork, beef, and flour are soaring, as well as transportation and labor costs.
Itoham commented, "We have made company-wide efforts to improve production efficiency and control costs, but it is extremely difficult to absorb all the rise in raw material prices."
