Shurooq begins the 1.5 km Khorfakkan Beach expansion project

The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has announced the start of the expansion project for Khorfakkan Beach, a fully-serviced beach destination and the first of its kind on the eastern coast of the Emirate of Sharjah.

The new expansion, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of next year, includes the establishment of a series of restaurants and cafes along the beach, a gymnasium with integrated facilities for men and women, and a water fountain, with the provision of all services that meet the needs of visitors to the destination, including parking and service facilities.

Khawla Sayed Mohammed Al Hashimi, Director of Project Development Sector at the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), said, "The expansion of Khorfakkan Beach comes in embodiment of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at enhancing the emirate's tourism attractiveness and improving the quality of services. provided through the development and diversification of projects to meet the needs of residents, visitors and tourists.”

Al Hashemi added: “This beach destination has witnessed a great demand not only by residents of Khorfakkan, but by visitors and tourists from all over Sharjah and the country since the opening of the first phase to the public in December 2019, and therefore this expansion is part of Shurooq’s mission to transform the coast of The city as a whole is one of the most important areas in the Emirate of Sharjah, which attracts beach tourism lovers, both tourists and residents, in addition to stimulating the investment movement, which allows more brands and companies to expand in the city’s most vibrant markets in the country.”

It is noteworthy that the first phase of the "Khorfakkan Beach" project, which is being developed by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), in cooperation with a number of government and private agencies, extended 1 km along the sea at a cost of about 95 million dirhams, and was officially opened to visitors by the owner His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in December 2019.
