China News Service, Guangzhou, December 1 (Cai Minjie and Wang Qianrui) China Railway Construction Nansha Investment Development Co., Ltd. announced on December 1 that with the completion of the final section of concrete pouring, it marks the recent closure of the main tower of the Honglian Bridge. The steel box girder installation phase of the main bridge is fully entered, creating favorable conditions for the completion and opening of traffic in 2022.

According to reports, the Honglian Bridge is the largest multifunctional cable-stayed bridge in China.

  The main bridge of Honglian Bridge is 912 meters long. It adopts double-tower and double-cable-plane mixed-girder cable-stayed bridge. The heights of No. 25 and No. 26 pylons are 180 meters and 178 meters respectively. At 580 meters, this span currently ranks first among the multifunctional cable-stayed bridges of the same type in my country.

  In addition, in order to solve the water, gas, electricity and communication needs of Longxue Island in Nansha District, Guangzhou, Honglian Bridge also undertakes the function of crossing the river with multi-circuit high-voltage cables, gas, communication and water pipelines. The scale of municipal pipelines crossing the river has also refreshed the domestic bridge of the same type.

  According to reports, the bridge has two main towers, east and west, designed in a curved "H" shape, with a height of 180 meters, which is equivalent to a 60-story building.

According to Gao Hao, chief engineer of the Wanqingsha Honglian Bridge invested by China Railway Construction Nansha, the main tower adopts hydraulic climbing formwork construction, which is divided into 31 sections. Adjustments are made, and the project is located at the estuary of the Pearl River, with high traffic flow, typhoons, and windy days, which brings great difficulties to the high-altitude construction of the main tower.

  For this reason, the project department adopts intelligent means, through the application of BIM technology, constructs the model entity of the pylon, controls the structural size of each section, and guides on-site construction; by optimizing the concrete mix ratio, the amount of cement is reduced while ensuring the strength. The initial setting time of the concrete is shortened, and measures such as a comprehensive layering process and internal cooling pipes to cool down are adopted to ensure the one-time successful pouring of large-volume concrete for the caps and ensure the service life of the main tower of the bridge.

  The Honglian Bridge is a key transportation infrastructure project of the bonded port in the Nansha Free Trade Zone. After its completion, it will mainly undertake the freight transportation link between the Wanqingsha Bonded Port Processing and Manufacturing Block in the Free Trade Zone and the Nansha Port on Longxue Island, building a Longxue The island’s international shipping logistics center is an important channel for the rapid collection and distribution system. It will play an important role in further building an international shipping logistics center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and radiating the formation of a more efficient and convenient modern transportation system in the whole province of Guangdong.
