Jilin Petrochemical is the "eldest son of New China Chemical Industry" and China's first large-scale chemical industrial base built during the "First Five-Year Plan" period. It is located in Jilin City, China's "Chemical City".

It is understood that the propylene distillation system of the 700,000 tons of ethylene plant at Jilin Petrochemical is one of the important large-scale chemical plants in the Northeast.
“This device produces chemical-grade propylene, which is mainly supplied to downstream acrylonitrile plants and fertilizer plants as raw materials.” According to Zhang Dianbo, deputy director of the ethylene plant of Jilin Petrochemical, propylene is one of the three basic raw materials for synthetic materials. The process purity is 96.5%, and the rest is mainly propane.
Before the renovation of the new device, the propane will be incinerated during the production process, causing waste.
In order to improve the purity of propylene and reduce the loss of propane, the factory built new equipment and carried out technical research to improve the purity of propylene and reduce the loss of propane emissions from downstream devices.
The system has 7 new process equipments/sets, mainly including propylene distillation tower, propylene distillation tower reflux tank, etc., 114 valves and 2,307 extension meters of pipeline are installed. The project includes water supply and drainage, construction, equipment installation, process and heating 7 projects including external pipe and fire protection.
Zhang Dianbo said that the biggest difficulty in project construction is installation. The company has repeatedly studied with the design and construction units, innovatively adopted a three-stage installation method, and successively compiled three versions of the lifting scheme to ensure a successful installation.
A few days ago, the newly built propylene distillation tower produced qualified propylene products, and the propylene purity reached 99.3%, marking the company’s propylene purification project was successfully completed and put into use.
As of the 29th, the system is operating in good condition, and it is estimated that the annual profit can reach more than 30 million yuan.
"According to the average production of chemical grade propylene of 22 tons per hour and the annual operating time of 8,760 hours, it can reduce the loss of propane emissions by 4,818 tons." Zhang Dianbo said that the "excess" propane in the production process will be recycled and used as raw materials. , To further reduce production energy consumption.
