The Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail Al Mazrouei, confirmed that the UAE is one of the pivotal maritime countries regionally and globally, and enjoys the support and backing of many countries, in addition to the various maritime organizations and authorities praising the state’s role in facilitating maritime trade globally, especially during the “Covid-” pandemic. 19».

Al Mazrouei added, "Through its membership in the IMO Council Category (B), the UAE played an active role and succeeded in developing the maritime industry by formulating strategies and policies, setting standards regulating the work of the maritime sector, and strengthening maritime legislation and regulations, to serve the maritime sector. Maritime shipping and international trade, in addition to introducing fundamental amendments to many decisions that contributed to the development and improvement of the work system, to keep pace with global changes and unify efforts for the safety, security and protection of the marine environment worldwide.

Al Mazrouei expressed his hope to continue this role, in close cooperation with the rest of the member states, to advance the global maritime sector, the maritime transport industry and enhance the safety, security and protection of the marine environment worldwide.

For her part, Adviser to the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure for Maritime Transport Affairs, Eng. Hessa Al Malik, said that "the UAE participates positively in the various work of the International Maritime Organization, the main and subsidiary technical committees, and the relevant working groups, as it hosted several regional workshops to help the organization Providing the necessary capabilities to implement international maritime standards.

It is noteworthy that the UAE is working, based on its efforts in the International Maritime Organization, to be re-elected to the membership of the Organization's Council in Category "B" in the elections to be held next December in London.
