the Omicron variant

with only seven infections recorded.

The authorities have reimposed drastic measures to establish a cordon sanitaire at the borders.

Foreigners can no longer come to Israel for a period of at least two weeks.

The Israelis are not spared either: they are prohibited from visiting 80 African states.

A three-day quarantine and two tests are imposed for those returning from other countries, including those who have had a third dose of the vaccine.

The Shin Beth, the internal security service, has again been authorized to carry out digital tracing from the phones of people infected with the South African virus in order to find the trace of all those who have been in contact. with them.

The practice was abandoned last year following complaints about the violation of privacy.

For the authorities, all this device must remain in place until mid-December, time to collect enough data to determine whether the existing vaccines prevent serious cases and deaths from the new Omicron variant.
