China News Service, Shanghai, November 26th (Zhou Zhuoao) A reporter learned from the Shanghai Enterprise Environmental Information Disclosure Platform on the 26th that Tesla is working on the second phase of the Shanghai Super Factory Project (Phase 1) production line optimization project. EIA publicity.

The report shows that the total investment of the project is 1.2 billion yuan, and construction is expected to start in December and be completed in April 2022 at the earliest.

Tesla stated in the EIA report that the project is an expansion project and will be carried out in the existing new model production area (that is, the Shanghai Super Factory Phase I and Phase B production area). The production models will not change compared to before the expansion. The sub-project mainly relies on the existing production equipment that has been built, and there is no new production equipment.

The production line optimization project is mainly the expansion of the stamping workshop, the body workshop, the painting workshop, the final assembly workshop and the logistics operation center.

Tesla said that the project will increase production capacity by increasing working hours, increasing the number of employees, and increasing the frequency of material turnover.

According to Tesla's estimation, after the completion of the production line optimization project, 4,000 employees will be added, and the number of employees in the entire plant will reach 19,000.

In addition, Tesla stated in the environmental assessment report that the company has completed the carbon footprint and carbon emission accounting of the project.

At present, Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory has a total of four areas: a vehicle production area, a test area, a parts production area and a joint factory.

As of the third quarter of this year, Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory can produce more than 1,600 Model Y and more than 2,000 Model 3s per day, and has achieved 90% of the localized production target for parts.

With the completion of the production line optimization project, the production capacity of Tesla's Shanghai plant is expected to be further improved.

In July of this year, Tesla announced that the Shanghai Gigafactory has been fully transformed into Tesla's main export hub. In addition to the delivery of the Chinese market, the Shanghai Gigafactory also exports a large number of Model 3 and Model Y to Asia-Pacific, Europe and other places.

At the Tesla 2021 third quarter financial report meeting, Tesla said that throughout the third quarter, China has always been Tesla’s main export center, and Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory produced a total of 133,200 vehicles in the third quarter. Among them, the export volume reached 59,579 vehicles, accounting for nearly 25% of Tesla’s global sales in the quarter.
