Kovitidi expressed the opinion that German politicians should first of all take into account the interests of their state and citizens who live in Germany.

She also recalled that about 3 million residents of the European Union cannot afford to heat their homes due to low wages, as evidenced by data from the European Trade Union Confederation.

“The situation is aggravated by the high price for heat and the rise in electricity prices,” the senator added.

At the same time, the parliamentarian stressed that Nord Stream 2 is “strategically important” for Germany.

She said that such a statement by Habek "corresponds to the unprecedented American pressure on the project and which is driven by the interests of the United States, not Germany."

Earlier, Habek, in an interview with the Süddeutsche Zeitung, said about the "strategic" nature of Nord Stream 2.

According to him, this is a strategic project that "puts pressure on Ukraine and increases the dependence of German politics."
