Zhao Guodong, the author of "Meta Universe", decodes the meta universe:

The meta-universe concept is colorful and Zuckerberg’s hypothesis is just one of them

Every iteration and innovation of technology means a new opportunity, new challenge, and at the same time a new beginning.

The first domestic book dedicated to the theme of the universe, "The Universe", was officially published by China Publishing Group China Translation Publishing House more than a month ago.

After the book was published, it also attracted a lot of people's attention and discussion.

The book emphasizes that the arrival of the meta-universe era is not the future tense, but the present ongoing tense.

For a series of new problems that may arise in the construction of the metaverse, the book "Metaverse" also lists and analyzes one by one.

For example, how to determine the value orientation, system choice and order of the metaverse, and how to determine the order and operating rules of the metaverse?

Why is the Meta-Universal Charter established?

How to determine the system that supports the meta-universe civilization framework?

How to formulate the internal economic rules of the meta universe, etc.

In the end, the author of the book believes that since it is a new thinking on the meta-universe, he should believe that once the meta-universe is formed, it will have its own vitality, as well as the internal driving force for self-adjustment and evolution.

The meta-universe is not created out of thin air, but is created on the basis of a series of technological advances, or will have a certain impact on the future of big data, industrial Internet, consumer Internet, etc., and on current information technology, cognitive capabilities, and applications. The maximum integration of scenarios, industrial supporting facilities and new market increments will create new markets for creative, sensitive, interactive, and social non-material products.

It will expand people's cognition of things and the world, and profoundly and extensively affect the overall production and lifestyle of mankind.

For ordinary people, what does the meta universe mean?

What should I prepare?

Before the new digital wave of Metaverse hits, did humans have the ability and possibility to foresee its drawbacks and circumvent it?

With all kinds of questions, the reporter interviewed Zhao Guodong, the author of "Meta Universe" and the secretary-general of Zhongguancun Big Data Industry Alliance.

"One dominates, the possibility of industry monopoly is very small"

Reporter: The current discussion and attention on Metaverse is very high.

In your opinion, what is the core of this concept?

If you ask the general public to introduce Metaverse in a language they can understand, what would you say?

  Zhao Guodong:

I would say that it is the next-generation Internet, the third-generation Internet after the PC Internet and the mobile Internet.

Online space changes from two-dimensional to three-dimensional.

In the past, we would say "Internet access", but in the future we might say "Jinyuan".

Reporter: The prospect of Metaverse is very exciting, but there are also people who worry: After the metaverse comes, people will indulge in it too much and lose the motivation to forge ahead in the real world?

What do you think for this?

  Zhao Guodong:

I think it's normal to have concerns.

The meta-universe will indeed bring good aspects as well as bad aspects.

My book also mentions both pros and cons.

For example, I mentioned that some games show the evil side of human nature and guide suicide. This should definitely be resisted.

But the worry of being too long-term, I think it is unfounded worry.

And I also want to point out that there may be a misunderstanding of the meta-universe: treating the virtual world purely as an entertainment space, just like some games now.

In fact, the meta universe can also be a living space and a learning space, which can make learning and training more efficient.

For example, when a pilot learns to fly an airplane, he learns it in a simulator. No one will use a real airplane in the learning phase.

But the flight technology learned in the simulator is also true knowledge.

Metaverse can make similar virtual learning and training easier, the experience more vivid and intuitive, and more efficient.

Reporter: Metaverse involves the high integration of reality and virtuality, which will greatly affect the future work and lifestyle of mankind.

Before, Zuckerberg’s company’s development of Metaverse would have a monopoly effect on the interpretation and practice of Metaverse?

  Zhao Guodong:

This is the right to hypothesize the meta universe.

As far as I know, Zuckerberg’s meta-universe hypothesis is that everyone wears a helmet and can work remotely and consume remotely.

But Microsoft's assumption of the meta universe is not exactly the same.

Priority hypothesis is indeed very important, but I think Zuckerberg's hypothesis of the meta-universe is just one of them.

The concept of Meta Universe is rich and colorful, with a dominant family, and the possibility of an industry monopoly is very small.

Metaverse naturally carries antitrust genes.

Tim Sweeney, CEO of game company Epic, once emphasized: A key element of the "meta universe" is that it is not made by any industry giant, but is the result of the co-creation of millions of people.

"Don’t follow the trend blindly, and don’t worry about the world’s unreasonable things."

Reporter: In the end, the development of the frontier of science and technology will be closely related to the lives of ordinary people and profoundly change all aspects of ordinary people.

Since everyone judges that the meta universe is an advanced form of human digital existence, it is bound to profoundly affect the future world.

So what do you think is the attitude of the general public to treat or welcome this new thing at the moment?

  Zhao Guodong:

I think that ordinary people should first understand what the meta universe is with an open heart, and have a clearer understanding of it.

Don't follow others, don't follow the trend blindly, and don't worry about others.

In my opinion, the meta universe can be summed up in five phrases: free creation, natural communication, transactions anytime and anywhere, real and illusory experience, and real and imaginary scenes.

Metaverse can also help ordinary people to participate more in creation.

For example, many users currently publish short video products on online short video platforms, but the focus is actually on performance, not creation.

But Metaverse can allow users to create, produce, and consume.

For front-line technology practitioners and managers, I think it is important to get started as soon as possible, actively invest in construction, and seize the right to hypothesize the metaverse. Timing is very important.
