Not a penny of compensation for a Palestinian from Gaza, who had sued the Israeli authorities, following the death of his three daughters.

They were killed by a strike by the Israeli army during the 2009 war in Gaza. The Israeli Supreme Court rejected its appeal on Wednesday, November 24, thus refusing to recognize the responsibility of the Jewish state in the deaths of these children. .

Years of legal battle that ultimately lead to nothing.

The story of Doctor Izzeldin Abuelaish is dramatic.

In 2009, during the war in Gaza, an Israeli army shell fell on his house.

Three of her daughters and her niece die instantly.

In shock, the gynecologist, who speaks fluent Hebrew and worked in Israeli hospitals at the time, picks up his phone and calls an Israeli TV station.

Live, he describes the horror.

From his pain will be born a moving book, imbued with humanity:

I will not hate

Since then, he has advocated reconciliation between Palestinians and Israelis.

Refugee for years in Canada, with his other children, Doctor Izzeldin Abuelaish nevertheless brought legal action against the Hebrew state.

He wishes to have the responsibility of the Israeli army recognized, and to obtain compensation.

Unsuccessful at first instance, the case reaches the Israeli Supreme Court.

Wednesday evening, the judges explain: the death of these children falls under the blow of an "act of war".

According to the laws in force, the authorities enjoyed "immunity".
