This is the first time that the two leaders have met in Turkey for nearly ten years.

Since the Arab Spring, the two countries have been at odds on almost all the major diplomatic issues in the region.

It is a pragmatic reconciliation. Even if the diplomatic interests between the United Arab Emirates and Turkey still diverge, the rapprochement between the two countries is very concrete. On both sides, signs of appeasement have been sent for several weeks. Last August, the UAE national security adviser had already visited the Turkish capital Ankara. Visit at the end of which, Crown Prince Mohamed ben Zayed, known as MBZ, spoke by phone with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Beyond the major regional issues, the economy should be one of the major subjects of this meeting between the two leaders.

Emirati investments in different sectors could be announced on this occasion.

The Turkish economy, faced with constantly increasing inflation and the

devaluation of the national currency

, is struggling to attract foreign investment.

MBZ's visit to Turkey also coincides with the Interpol General Assembly which is currently being held in Istanbul.

The UAE General Ahmed al-Raisi is the big favorite in the elections for the presidency of the transnational police organization.
