Sentenced in the context of the Tapie affair to a one-year suspended sentence, the CEO of the Orange group will resign Wednesday evening to its board of directors.

He throws in the towel.

According to information from Europe 1, Stéphane Richard, the CEO of Orange will submit his resignation Wednesday evening to its Board of Directors, after being sentenced earlier in the day to one year in prison suspended and 50,000 euros fine for complicity in the embezzlement of public funds in the context of the Tapie affair.

Orange would like a "serene handover"

It remains to be seen when his departure will be effective.

In the entourage of the government, "we would like him to leave by the end of the year".

At Orange, we would like more time to be able to carry out a "serene handover".

After a general acquittal in July 2019, the court of appeal ruled that the controversial 2008 arbitration between Bernard Tapie and Crédit Lyonnais, which awarded 403 million euros to Bernard Tapie and has since been canceled in civil proceedings, was well "fraudulent" in that it was biased in the direction of the interests of the businessman.

The appeal court sentenced four of the five former co-convicts of Bernard Tapie, who died in early October.
