On November 18, a professional organization identified that a batch of 470 kilograms of ore seized by Shenzhen Customs under the Shenzhen Bay Customs in the freight import channel was meteorite, the main component of which was 90% iron and 8.9% nickel.

At present, the case has been further processed by the customs disposal department.

It is understood that when the customs officer inspected, it was found that the ore declared as pyrite was black-brown, dense, and magnetic, inconsistent with the characteristics of pyrite, and the company could not provide relevant certification materials. It was preliminarily determined that there was a false report, and then it was transferred for identification.

The main components of pyrite are iron and sulfur, and the appraisal report shows that it does not contain sulfur, and the composition of this batch of ore is very similar to that of meteorites.

After being identified and confirmed by the owner, the goods are meteorites.

Since ancient times, meteorites have been labeled with functions such as town house, warding off evil spirits, prosperity, transportation, and longevity. In addition to the collection and scientific research value of objects from outer space, they have been favored by a large number of collectors and researchers at home and abroad.

Some criminals attempted to import and export meteorites through false and concealed reports in order to gain profits.

The customs reminds that if concealing, disguising, concealing, false reporting or other means evading customs supervision, transporting, carrying or mailing goods and articles prohibited or restricted by the state from entering or leaving the country, or goods and articles subject to tax payment in accordance with the law, all entering or leaving the country Suspected of smuggling will be punished by corresponding laws.
