Like the GT86, the new Toyota GR86 was developed in collaboration with Subaru, which explains why it uses an atmospheric 2.4-liter boxer engine (4 cylinders flat) developing 234 hp and 250 Nm. With the manual gearbox at 6-speed (a 6-speed automatic transmission is also planned), the Toyota accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.1 seconds.
To optimize the behavior of the GR86, Toyota has added numerous body reinforcements which improve its torsional stiffness by 50%.
Thanks to an almost perfect weight distribution (53/47), the coupe should be very balanced.
Its drift control in bends is provided by a limited slip differential.
Inside, bucket seats provide perfect support in a world that has been modernized by the addition of an 8-inch central screen and 7-inch digital instrumentation.
The first units of the GR86 will be delivered in spring 2022.
