Half of 18-30 year olds with disabilities face discrimination in hiring. This is what reveals an Ifop study carried out on the occasion of the 25th European week for the employment of people with disabilities which begins on Monday. Consequence: more than 60% of them admit not specifying their handicap on their CV.

For a person with a disability, not mentioning it on their CV is a way of not hampering their job search.

Camille suffers from an "invisible" disability.

He has chronic pain, an inability to sit for several hours, but also the need to lie down frequently.

Evils that the Breton voluntarily forgets to report during a job interview.

"When I arrived in the company where I am today, I signed my contract normally, like Mr. and Mrs. Everyone. I knew that unfortunately was not the case," he explains. .

"During a recruitment, I nevertheless informed an employer that I could have medical appointments. We will say that we try to minimize things."

Since then, Camille has disclosed her disability to obtain recognition as a disabled worker and some adjustments.

A lie of omission that the company accepted.

A lie of omission sometimes necessary

Talking about his disability is what Fabien Gaulué generally advises.

Without exception !

He chairs the FÉDÉEH, the Student Federation for a dynamic studies and employment with a disability, which fights for the employment of disabled people.

"If the handicap is likely to frighten the recruiter, because he is not aware of the simple arrangements, in this case, indeed, it is not always necessary to express his handicap", details t -he.

"We can overcome prejudices by being discreet about an invisible situation."

After having proven himself in a company, the Managing Director always encourages them to discuss their disability with their employer.
