Jin Lin, CEO of Argentina (Shanghai) Innovation Center, is a familiar face of the China International Import Expo.

In 2018, at the first CIIE, he came to Shanghai to do logistics, warehousing, distribution and distribution services for commodity imports in the Argentine exhibition area called "Argentina National Import Commodities Shanghai Exhibition and Trading Distribution Center" at the time.

After this practice, one of Jin Lin's ideas gradually became clear: "The power of individuals and small and medium-sized enterprises is limited in this international arena. Can we build a platform to bring these powers together?"

What made him happy was that at the CIIE, the area of the booth that gathered Argentine products has gradually increased from 200 square meters in the first session to 400 square meters this year. The Argentine exhibition area has also been officially renamed Argentina (Shanghai) Innovation Center, aiming to provide Argentine SMEs that do not have the ability to independently explore the international market enter the Chinese market to build a platform.

As an overseas Chinese who promoted the establishment of this platform, he accepted an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Service during the period of participating in this CIIE, and detailed the "behind and the stage" of the Innovation Center.

"The Argentine government agency is responsible for promoting the entry of small and medium-sized enterprises in the country." As a specific operator in China, Jin Lin said that in addition to import and export trade services, logistics and warehousing services, distribution center services, supply chain financial services, legal policy consulting services, In addition to basic functions such as company registration services, this innovation center will also provide direct and convenient business development and market promotion services for Argentine SMEs.

Although Argentina is the furthest country from China, in recent years, the trade data between Argentina and China has been increasing. Last year, the total trade volume between the two countries reached 14 billion U.S. dollars and reached 12.1 billion U.S. dollars in the first three quarters of this year.

Data show that by the end of 2020, the total value of Argentine products imported through the center has exceeded 10 million U.S. dollars.

The director of the Argentina Investment and Trade Promotion Agency Juan Usandivaras said that from the exhibition and trade distribution center to the innovation center, the companies of the two countries have used the CIIE as a link to deepen their cooperation.

Jin Lin explained that for Argentine SMEs, it is important to break the past way of thinking and let them understand the changes in China’s market economy and adapt to China’s economic development. At the same time, it is important for Argentine SMEs to integrate the Internet and high-tech products to enhance additional value. Value is also important.

"The greatest value of the innovation center is that it has its own sales and operation model, and has nationwide sales outlets. Even after the CIIE is over, it can show where the goods go and how to enter the sales channel as quickly as possible. "Jin Lin added that in order to truly equip small and medium-sized enterprises with the needs and confidence to develop in China, they need to have their products displayed through sales channels, plus the successful cases of sales channels, then these Argentine small and medium-sized enterprises will have the confidence to enter this platform.

Jin Lin said that in the past three years, the center has helped about 50 Argentine companies enter the Chinese market, hoping to bring more high-quality Argentine products to the Chinese market in the future.

"We want to combine the huge potential of the Chinese market, give full play to the role of overseas Chinese and overseas Chinese, and fully grasp the role of the CIIE platform. Through continuous development, we will become successful cases and attract more Latin American companies, including Argentina, to participate in the CIIE. ."

Since 2018, more than 80 Argentine companies have participated in the CIIE, and the exhibits include red wine, olive oil, meat and soybeans.

Jin Lin told reporters that in the future, in addition to continuing to contribute to the strong growth of bilateral trade, the center will also provide more support for cooperation between the companies of the two countries in the fields of digital economy, agricultural technology, culture and art.
