Emirates Airlines recorded strong revenues during the first half of the fiscal year (2021-2022), amounting to 21.7 billion dirhams, including other operating income, an increase of 86% compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, in which revenues were recorded 11.7 billion dirhams. While the losses of the carrier amounted to 5.8 billion dirhams, compared to 12.6 billion dirhams.

The strong revenue recovery reflects the rapid return of demand from passengers to and from every destination once restrictions on flights and travel across the world are eased.

During the period from April 1, 2021 to last September 30, Emirates Airlines carried more than 6.1 million passengers, an increase of 319% over the same period last year.

In addition, the quantities of freight transported increased by 39% to 1.1 million tons, bringing the freight business back to 90% of its pre-pandemic levels (in 2019) in terms of volume.

During the first half of the fiscal year (2021-2022), Emirates SkyCargo strengthened its refrigerated cargo handling infrastructure by adding 94 container sites in cold rooms to the existing infrastructure at Dubai International Airport, which is approved under the European Union's standards of best practices "EU GDP".

The operating costs of Emirates Airlines increased by 22%, with the total capacity increasing by 66%.

Fuel costs have more than doubled compared to the same period last year.

This is due to an 81% increase in the quantities of fuel used as a result of the significant growth in air operations during the six-month period until the end of September, in addition to the increase in oil prices.

During the first six months of the current financial year (2021-2022), Emirates Airlines received two new A380s, while removing two aircraft from service as part of its long-term strategy to continue modernizing the fleet, improving efficiency, reducing emissions, and providing high-quality experiences for customers.

As part of its efforts to restore the passenger network and continue flights through its hub in Dubai, Emirates Airlines continued to respond flexibly and quickly to lift travel restrictions, resume services or add more flights.
