dbworld launches e-commerce platform DUBUY.com in Kenya

Mahmoud Al Bastaki: “African companies are increasingly using digital channels and technologies to communicate with suppliers and distributors.”

DB World Group announced yesterday the launch of its global e-commerce platform (DUBUY.com) in Kenya, following its launch in Rwanda and Ethiopia earlier this year, which has become a major gateway to trade in East Africa.

The group said in a statement that (DUBUY.com) is an innovative electronic market that will contribute to facilitating Kenyan companies' access to international markets through dbworld's network of ports and its logistics services, as dbworld is working to establish a strategic trade gateway to the eastern part of the country. Africa through eight existing ports, distributed in the African continent, and three others are under development.

The DUBUY.com platform enables international, regional and local trade, as it combines advanced technology and dbworld infrastructure, providing a safe and reliable way for companies in Kenya to develop and expand, improve their supply chain connectivity, and enhance their resilience as the country recovers from the pandemic. It will also address the main challenges facing the growth of e-commerce in Africa, including the reliability and security of financial transactions and the movement of goods.

Mahmoud Al Bastaki, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai World Trade, said: “With the entry into force of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement, the eyes of the world will turn to the continent. African companies are increasingly using digital channels and technologies to connect with suppliers and distributors to create flexible supply chains.”
