A few hours away from a long-awaited speech by Emmanuel Macron, during which he should address the health crisis but also the country's economy, Europe 1 takes stock.

Growth, unemployment ... To what are the good figures of the country due, and can they be called into question?

TO ANALYSE

Fantasy or reality?

This Tuesday evening at 8 p.m., Emmanuel Macron has to face the French once again.

It will obviously take stock of the health situation, but not only.

The head of state also wishes, five months before the presidential election, to talk about the economy.

After INSEE argued, less than a week ago, that "whatever the cost" would have avoided a wave of poverty in France, Emmanuel Macron wants to come back to the good figures of the country.

Good numbers ...

It must be said that the latter leave no room for doubt: in the third quarter, growth reached 3%, unheard of since 1969. Over the year, it should approach 7% according to forecasts by INSEE .

For its part, the unemployment rate is falling and has reached a lower level than before the crisis.

But the recovery is also being felt at the level of business creations: more than a million in one year.

Creations which can be explained in part by a catch-up effect of consumption.

"We have growth rates that we did not expect. It has been ten months now that we feel that the French need to consume to have fun, to let go, to share", confirms at the microphone. 'Europe 1 Philippe Jambon, the founding president of the chocolate maker Jeff de Bruges.

"So our sales are increasing, both in average basket and both in number of customers. We have a double-digit growth rate on a comparable basis."

... and an endangered recovery

But this rapid recovery is already under tension: between shortages of raw materials, soaring prices and lack of personnel.

Points on which Emmanuel Macron could stop this evening.
