China News Service, Yantai, November 8 (Wang Jiaoni) A reporter learned from Yantai Port, Shandong Port, on the 8th that the port has recently completed all unloading tasks for the bulk carrier "Han Fuxing" with a load of 170,000 tons of Sierra Leone iron ore. The transportation capacity of the "Sierra Leone-China" iron mineral flow platform was further upgraded.

In the process of receiving and unloading the Cape of Good Hope bulk carrier "Han Fuxing", Yantai Port worked closely with the maritime and pilotage departments to maximize the reduction of the preparation time for berthing and unberthing and when the ship was at the port, and smooth the "green channel for cargo receiving and unloading" ".

In December 2020, the pre-operation team jointly established by Shandong Port Yantai Port and Shandong Port Overseas Development Group officially entered the Sierra Leone project to jointly open up new overseas growth points, and successfully achieved the first iron ore delivery by Pepe on January 29, 2021 Port of Seoul to China.

So far, the project has shipped a total of 2 million tons, realizing the normalized shipment and delivery of the 180-200,000-ton Cape of Good Hope ship type, injecting new impetus into the development of Sierra Leone's mining and China's steel industry, and adding Africa to the construction of the "Belt and Road" new element.

It is reported that Sierra Leone’s new Tangkerili mining area has proven iron ore reserves of more than 10 billion tons, and prospective reserves of more than 30 billion tons. According to the mining plan, 9 million tons of iron ore will be shipped in 2022.

Nowadays, Yantai Port is actively cooperating with neighboring steel mills to speed up the construction of a "Sierra Leone-China" iron mineral transfer base.
