Sales of both "Kyocera" and "Murata Manufacturing" reached record highs in half a year due to strong sales of electronic components related to the high-speed, large-capacity communication standard "5G".

Of these, Kyocera, which is headquartered in Kyoto, announced on the 1st that sales for the six months from April to September increased by 25.9% from the same period of the previous year to 876.3 billion yen. It was a record high for half a year.

The final profit was 73.2 billion yen, more than double the previous year.

This is mainly due to the increased demand for electronic components such as capacitors related to "5G" around the world.

Kyocera President Hideo Tanimoto revealed at a press conference that he is considering building a semiconductor-related electronic component factory in Vietnam to meet growing demand.

In addition, Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., which is headquartered in Kyoto, had sales of 90.8 billion yen for the six months to September and final profit of 167.7 billion yen, both of which were record highs for the six months.

The main factors were that sales of electronic components for game consoles increased against the backdrop of demand for nesting, and that electronic components for 5G-compatible smartphones were strong.
