[Explanation] On October 29, the second China-US Economic and Trade Forum hosted by the European and American Students Association (Chinese Scholars Association) was held at the Shanghai Baowu Iron and Steel Expo Center.

The theme of this forum is "New Challenges and New Opportunities for Sino-US Economic and Trade Cooperation-Empowering the Integrated Development of the Yangtze River Delta".

The guests at the conference expressed that the friendship between the nations lies in the closeness of the people, and the people-to-people exchanges between China and the United States play an important role in promoting the healthy and stable development of the relations between the two countries.

It is generally felt that this forum is a useful exploration and active action to leverage the non-governmental forces of China and the United States to help answer the "Question of the Century". International talent exchange and cooperation are of very important practical significance.

In the keynote speech session, Shaun Rein, the founder and managing director of China Market Research Group, said that without China, the United States would not have had such economic growth in the past 30 years, nor would there be so many middle-class people who could buy it. Can afford Apple and Nike products.

Similarly, in the 1970s, China's development required a lot of capital, many of which came from the United States.

There is no doubt that both countries have benefited from trade and cooperation.

Since the reform in 1978, I think that Sino-US relations have helped China and the United States. American companies have invested in China and they have also made a lot of money. You can see that their stocks have gone up because they are here ( China) has made so much money, they should protect and support the Chinese government.

[Commentary] In an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Agency, Lei Xiaoshan said that now the United States and China should strengthen cooperation in environmental protection and business.

On the one hand, China has made great achievements in the field of environmental protection in the past ten years, and the United States and China have potential for cooperation.

On the other hand, the current US business community does not see China as a threat, but an opportunity. This is also a breakthrough in US-China cooperation.

In an interview with a reporter from China News Agency on the margins of the meeting, Samuel Thomas Overholt, the business director of Yuanhaiying Investment Consulting Firm and a strategic adviser in the field of Sino-US government affairs and economic trade, pointed out that the current United States and China have not really decoupled, but this The formulation actually means that US-China relations are slowly entering a virtuous circle, progressing forward rather than retrogressive.

China's economic development is particularly good, and its growth is particularly fast, which is still faster than other countries.

He wants to increase investment, but he may not be able to find a very clear expectation. They think I see this and think I invest.

Of course it’s safe, right, so they may maintain their existing investments. This is for sure, and it’s impossible to withdraw.

[Explanation] Ou Yongming believes that the most direct and best way is for the United States to unilaterally abolish all additional tariffs.

This is most in line with the economic interests of the United States.

The United States is currently facing greater inflationary pressure, and the additional tariffs imposed on Chinese goods are one of the reasons for this greater pressure.

And in the short to medium term, this is also an area where the United States and China are more likely to reach agreement.

Of course, whether it can be realized depends on how the domestic politics develops in the United States, and there may be a turning point after the mid-term elections in the United States in 2022 at the earliest.

In addition, three parallel forums focused on the themes of "New Trends in Sino-US Economic and Trade Cooperation under International Trade Rules", "Biomedical Industry Cooperation in the Post-epidemic Era" and "China-US Economic and Trade Cooperation in the Digital Economy Era".

They conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as the prospects of Sino-US economic and trade cooperation, the space for Sino-US technical cooperation, the international flow and supervision of medical data, urban digital transformation and security, and the Sino-US digital economic and trade cooperation mechanism.

Also participating in this forum were about 200 people including heads of relevant departments in Shanghai, US business leaders in China, representatives of some multinational companies, and representatives of returned overseas students.
