On March 14, 2020, 47 million Spaniards locked themselves in their homes to try to contain the rapid advance of a still unknown Covid-19. Days later France, Poland and Greece did the same. In a month,
the world economy came to a standstill
and governments across the globe developed various recipes to try to alleviate the consequences that the pandemic was beginning to cause on the material well-being of its citizens.
The Spanish Government launched its
social shield
, focused on protecting the most vulnerable citizens in the housing, energy and work environment.
Some of these measures have expired with the passage of time, the advance of vaccination and the consequent return to normality.
Others have been prolonged with the approval of successive royal decrees and one, such as the
Minimum Vital Income
, has come to stay.
From the stoppage of evictions for people in vulnerable situations, to the
prohibition of cutting off electricity and water
for people who have received the social bonus for electricity, requesting any of these aids can be a process in which it is easy to get lost.
We offer this guide as a compass to orient yourself with them.
