On October 28, Guangzhou Airport Expressway toll station formally completed the intelligent upgrade and transformation. By adopting the sensorless traffic guidance system and the intelligent coordinate precision guidance system, the overall operating efficiency and intelligent operation level of the toll station were improved.

The toll station was designed by He Jingtang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and was inspired by the sleeves in Cantonese opera.

According to reports, the toll station is about 6 kilometers away from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and is an important gateway toll station in Guangzhou.

The reporter saw at the scene that the facade and roof of the toll station building made of steel were similar to a centrally symmetrical S-curve shape, like a light silver-white sleeve dancing over the airport expressway, with the characteristics of the Cantonese gateway.

Inside the toll station, there is no toll island between every two ETC (non-stop electronic toll collection system) lanes, and only 15 cm of traffic safety markings are used for soft isolation.

When the vehicle enters the toll gate, the intelligent toll robot at the side of the lane automatically recognizes the license plate. After the driver scans the code and pays, it will print the paper receipt, which saves 2 to 3 seconds compared with traditional manual operation.

According to reports, the Guangzhou Airport Expressway Airport Station was built in 1999 and opened for operation in November 2001. The cumulative traffic flow has exceeded 250 million vehicles, and the average daily traffic flow has exceeded 120,000.
