The unemployment insurance reform will be fully implemented on December 1

Despite the disputes, the reform of unemployment insurance will be applied in full.

Labor Minister Élisabeth Borne confirmed Thursday that the last two measures of the controversial reform, namely the tightening of the rules on the degression of benefits and on the duration of affiliation necessary to open or top up a right, will indeed come into force on the 1st. December.

From this date, "it will be necessary to have worked six months and no longer four months to benefit from unemployment benefit, and the degression will apply beyond the sixth month and not the eighth month as today" for salaries beyond 4,500 euros, detailed the Minister of Labor on France Inter.

On the job market, "the criteria are met"

Emblematic reform of the chaotic five-year term, the hardening of the rules for calculating unemployment benefit came into force on October 1, but the application of these two provisions were subject to certain conditions for improving the labor market.

"Today, the criteria are met, since we have had a very large number of hires over the last four months and since, with these 200,000 fewer job seekers in the last quarter, we are almost double of the decrease which was necessary for the two provisions to come into force, "she detailed.

The number of category A unemployed fell 5.5% in the third quarter in France (excluding Mayotte) compared to the previous quarter, or 206,000 fewer registered, to 3.544 million, according to figures from the Ministry of Labor released Wednesday.

Over one year, the drop is 9.7%.
