Mitsubishi Motors announced on the 28th that it will be the new model of the main SUV "Outlander" for the first time in nine years.

It is a plug-in hybrid vehicle that runs on electricity alone in addition to a gasoline engine, and the distance that can be run on a single charge is 87 km, which is about 30 km longer than the conventional model.

In order to increase its competitiveness, the platform that forms the basis of the car is the first to be adopted as the main model of the car, which was jointly developed with Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Renault, which form a coalition.

It is scheduled to be released in Japan in December, and the policy is to continue to standardize the platform in the alliance of the three companies.

Takao Kato, president of Mitsubishi Motors, said, "While the environment for charging is not sufficiently maintained in Japan, it is a very convenient car at this stage because it can run on gasoline even if there is no electricity." ..

This car is the main model that accounts for about 20% of Mitsubishi Motors' domestic and overseas sales, and while the company has been in the red for the second consecutive year, the focus is on whether we can improve our business performance by launching a new model.
