In front of a gas station in northern Tehran, dozens of cars and motorcycles have been waiting for several hours.

The petrol pumps are out of order.

Behrouz, a 38-year-old courier, surrounded by several other couriers, says he has been waiting for five hours.

“

We are there for the gasoline.

I have more gasoline.

I've been waiting for eleven hours to at least be able to get home, he

says.

Here we are and my house is on the other side of town.

I can't leave my motorbike here and go home.

I need gas to at least get home.

 "

Many videos have been posted on social media showing the same situation across the country.

This vast disruption comes just days before the anniversary of the 2019 protests. At the time, the government tripled the price of gasoline, sparking

violent protests

across the country.

No explanation has been given as to the origin of this cyberattack, but while inflation is well above 50%, this situation can only worsen social and political discontent.
