This is because the number of users continues to decline due to the effects of the new coronavirus, and the Shinkansen green fare will increase by about 20% to 30%.

JR East will raise prices from next spring on the green charges for limited express trains on the Shinkansen and conventional lines such as Tohoku and Hokuriku.



The price increase will vary depending on the type of seat and distance, but in the case of Shinkansen Green Cars, the price increase will be about 20% to 30%.



For example, in the section between Tokyo Station and Shin-Aomori Station, the green fare will be raised from the current 5240 yen to 6600 yen, and the fare when light meals are offered in "Gran Class", which is higher than the green car, is the current 1 It will be changed from 10,480 yen to 11,840 yen.



In addition, for the Hokuriku Shinkansen, which has separate jurisdictions between JR East and JR West, similar price increases will be made for all sections.



On the other hand, for limited express trains on conventional lines, the Narita Express green fare will be raised from the current 2100 yen to 2800 yen.



According to JR East, the number of Shinkansen and limited express train users last month remained at about 30% of the same month, and the price has continued to decline significantly, so we have decided to raise the price this time.
