Six Palestinian NGOs have been designated as “

terrorist organizations

 ” by Israel.

According to the Defense Ministry, they are linked to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

For years, the PFLP, a Palestinian armed group, has been regarded as a terrorist group both by the Jewish state, but also by the European Union.

Several human rights organizations, international, and even Israeli, criticize this decision.

By designating these six Palestinian NGOs as terrorist organizations, Israel is giving itself the right to put an end to their activities.

Under Hebrew state law, Israeli authorities can now close their offices, seize their property, and arrest and imprison their staff.

According to a statement from the Israeli Ministry of Defense, the internal intelligence services have established links between these six NGOs and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

Financing of "terrorist activities" of the PFLP

Under the guise of civilian activities […] these organizations benefit from aid from European states obtained fraudulently,”

the statement said.

This money allowed the PFLP to finance the families of prisoners [Palestinians in Israel], the perpetrators of attacks, to pay salaries to its members, to strengthen its terrorist activities and to disseminate its ideology.

"

The statement was immediately contradicted by human rights organizations.

The Israeli NGO B'Tselem strongly condemns this decision, and qualifies the Jewish state as "

apartheid, totalitarian and violent

".
