Israel expects major powers to put pressure on Tehran over Iran's nuclear program.

The Islamic Republic of

Iran is its pet peeve

.

But the Hebrew state knows full well that its military superiority in the Middle East is not enough.

He needs allies in the face of what he sees as the Iranian threat.

There are two fronts. Syria first. Officially still at war with Israel, the country welcomes Iranian militias on its soil. Their positions are regularly bombarded by the Israeli air force. Prime Minister

Naftali Bennett

expects President Vladimir Putin, whose army

de facto

controls

Syria, to continue to guarantee Israeli freedom of action against these militias.

The other front is diplomatic.

The Israelis hope to convince Moscow to exert strong enough pressure on the Iranians, so that the latter reverse the trend of their nuclear program.

As his predecessor Benyamin Netanyahu, the new Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has repeated it several times, “

the Hebrew state will not allow

” Tehran to acquire atomic weapons.

Benyamin Netanyahu had a special relationship with Vladimir Putin.

But everything remains to be built for Naftali Bennett, who came to power last June.
