Just two days after the previous record price for diesel, the prices at the petrol pumps are rising to new heights.
The nationwide average is currently 1.560 euros per liter of diesel.
The ADAC announced this on Wednesday.
This corresponds to an increase of 3.4 cents compared to the previous week.
The gasoline price rose accordingly by 2.4 cents to an average price of 1.671 euros.
It was only on Monday that the diesel price reached a new all-time high of 1.555 euros.
According to ADAC, the previous record was on August 26, 2012 at 1.554 euros.
A little later, on September 13, 2012, the highest gasoline price to date was registered, at 1.709 euros.
According to ADAC, the reasons for the high prices are, among other things, the high crude oil prices on the international markets and the currently strong dollar compared to the euro.
A barrel (159 liters) of the Brent variety currently costs around $ 84.
Since crude oil is traded in dollars on the international markets, the high dollar exchange rate makes oil imports to Europe even more expensive.
According to ADAC, the high demand for heating oil in autumn also affects prices.
Oil prices eased somewhat on Wednesday.
According to ADAC, refueling is usually cheapest between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
Drivers can also use a number of apps to check the current fuel prices at petrol stations in their area.
According to ADAC, fuel can also be saved through an adapted driving style.
