Having a real notion of the value of things appears more and more complicated with prices that make the big difference from one merchant to another.

And the amount of home delivery costs now also tip the scales when deciding whether or not to confirm a purchase.

When we see that we can have any gadget shipped for a few euros and at no cost or almost from the other side of the world, the slightest additional bill can seem exorbitant.

Less than 5 € shipping costs accepted

Thus, according to a recent survey conducted by Sendcloud.fr, a shipping platform dedicated to e-merchants, among 7,873 consumers in eight European countries, the French are increasingly careful in terms of shipping costs. For an order amounting to 50 euros, they want to spend less than 3.60 euros on delivery in 2021, against around 5 euros last year. This is barely more than a basket of 15 euros, the shipping of which should not be invoiced for more than 3.10 euros in the opinion of the participants, knowing that the average over the eight countries surveyed is 3 , 40 euros.

And if the amount granted increases with the price of purchases, it remains low since the people questioned are ready to pay 4.70 euros in postage for an order of 150 euros.

This does not prevent the French from remaining demanding in terms of delivery time and flexibility, two criteria considered important.

The penalty in the event of higher shipping costs?

Abandonment of the purchase.

No less than 78% of French consumers say they give up validating their cart when shipping costs are too high.
