In order to find a solution to the delivery problems, Great Britain is relaxing the requirements for foreign truck drivers.

Transport Minister Grant Shapps announced regulations on Sky News on Friday that will come into force before the end of the year and so relax the Christmas business.

This will allow drivers to make more deliveries per stay in the future.

Currently, EU truck drivers are only allowed two pickups and deliveries within seven days of arriving in the UK.

In future, an unlimited number of journeys should be possible within a period of two weeks.

Shapps said that there would be "thousands of additional truck drivers on the road."

The UK is currently struggling with an acute shortage of truck drivers, leading to logistics and delivery problems across the country.

Many foreign skilled workers left the country after Brexit or no longer come back as seasonal workers.

Shapps rejected fears of problems in the Christmas business.

The UK economy is growing fast and people "are going to get their things for Christmas".

The shortage of skilled workers in the UK runs through a number of sectors.

Among other things, farmers are there without seasonal workers for the Christmas business - before Brexit, the sector often relied on workers from other EU countries.

On Thursday the government announced that it would issue 800 short-term visas for foreign butchers.

Previously, there had been warnings that labor shortages could result in 150,000 pigs being killed without the meat entering the food chain.
