The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy launched a circular economy committee to be a platform that brings together government and private sector institutions that support the circular economy and develop implementable initiatives with the aim of expanding the scope of current applications and introducing global best practices in the field of circular economy.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, said that the UAE attaches great importance to achieving sustainable management and effective use of natural resources, by shifting towards a green economy, and increasing reliance on renewable and clean energy sources, noting that the national policy for the circular economy The state's priorities in promoting the concept of a circular economy are identified in a number of priority sectors, namely green infrastructure, sustainable transportation, sustainable manufacturing, and sustainable food production and consumption.
Al Tayer added: “We aim to develop and launch innovative mechanisms and initiatives in cooperation with our strategic partners, to promote the adoption of the circular economy model in various sectors, and to ensure its application in accordance with methodologies that connect all actors, in addition to supporting startups, developing the capabilities of entrepreneurs in this vital sector, and encouraging Taking advantage of the huge potential of modern technologies to accelerate the circular economy, by enhancing the efficiency of natural resource consumption, and encouraging sustainable practices by reusing resources, reducing waste, and reducing emissions to contribute to the challenge of climate change, and build a better future for our future generations.”
The circular economy committee, launched by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, aims to encourage investment in the circular economy, present executable proposals that support expanding the scope of current applications, and introduce international best practices in supporting the circular economy, thus contributing to achieving economic growth, in parallel with protecting the environment and ensuring sustainability of natural resources.

In addition, the Secretary-General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Chairman of the Executive Committee for Energy Demand Management, Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, chaired the first meeting of the circular economy committee, in the presence of members representing Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Economy, Dubai Science Park, and Emaar Real Estate, Inc. Al Muhairbi said: "We were pleased to respond to the proposals discussed at the first meeting of the circular economy committee launched by the council, and we already see many distinguished examples of the circular economy that can be expanded at the level of the Emirate of Dubai."
He added that the committee discussed the state of the circular economy report that was reviewed, its alignment with the national policy for the circular economy, and some examples of international best practices, in addition to the next steps in developing initiatives and tools to support the circular economy in various sectors in Dubai.
