This is reported by Politico, citing sources.

As noted, at the moment, Senator Ted Cruz is delaying the approval of seven American ambassadors, which "harms the reputation of the United States at the international level."

According to the newspaper, in this way the senator is seeking the introduction of sanctions that would stop the launch of Nord Stream 2.

It is clarified that on August 10, Cruise talked with the US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, who asked the senator if he was ready to approve the ambassadors.

Cruz responded that "the Biden administration is legally empowered to impose sanctions," the source said.

As the newspaper writes, in response to this, the presidential administration stressed that sanctions against Nord Stream 2 during Biden's presidency would not be imposed.

Earlier, Michael McCall, a senior Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee of the US House of Representatives, called for sanctions against Russia on the basis that Moscow allegedly wants to take advantage of the energy crisis in Europe.
