Dubai witnesses the sale of rough diamonds for 19 million dirhams

Yesterday, the Dubai Multi Commodities Center announced the sale of an exceptional rough diamond weighing 118.58 carats, for 5.218 million dollars (19.1 million dirhams), as part of a record-breaking tender held at the Dubai Diamond Exchange.

The center explained, in a statement, that the type IIa diamond was offered to major diamond trading companies from India, Israel and Europe in a tender hosted by the world's leading auction house and rough diamonds "Transatlantic GemSales".

He added that this comes after a tender organized by Star Gems at the Dubai Diamond Exchange during December 2020, which broke records, as it witnessed sales of rough diamonds worth $87 million.

Ahmed bin Sulayem, CEO and CEO of DMCC, said, "The new achievement is added to the DDE's record of successes in organizing tenders with high efficiency." Our efforts and our keenness to provide enough space to welcome everyone, which is why we intend to increase our capacity by three times during the next six months.”

Bin Sulayem continued, "Our current position as a transparent market with a developed regulatory environment has made Dubai an attractive destination for legitimate traders who are looking for fair prices to sell their gem diamonds, especially those residing in Africa, which is not far from us."
