Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation announced that it had delayed remittances in up to 91 foreign exchange transactions with overseas companies regarding the effects of the system failure that occurred on the afternoon of the 12th.

The system has already been restored and it is said that the transaction will be completed as usual on the 13th.

According to Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, at around 0:50 pm on the 12th, a network connection device broke down in the foreign exchange trading system, delaying the processing of remittances.

The system was restored after about four and a half hours, but it is said that it is responding by contacting customers individually because up to 91 cases were delayed mainly due to remittances to companies.

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation commented, "We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers and everyone else," as the transaction was completed as usual on the 13th.

In foreign exchange transactions, Mizuho Bank also had a problem with the system that checks for money laundering on the 30th of last month, causing delays in remittance processing.
