China News Service, Beijing, October 13 (Reporter Liu Yuying) At the 2021 Global MBB Forum held on the 13th, Huawei’s rotating chairman Hu Houkun said: “5G pre-commercialization has brought about consumption in the past five years. The improvement of user experience and the breaking of industry enablement have made progress beyond expectations in terms of user scale, network coverage, and terminal development."

Hu Houkun introduced that the development speed of 5G far exceeds expectations.

Currently, 176 5G commercial networks have been deployed worldwide, with more than 500 million users.

In the consumer sector, 5G has achieved a 10-fold increase in rate and brought new applications such as VR and 360-degree live video streaming.

In the enterprise market, more than 10,000 5G to B projects have been carried out globally, and 5G business innovations have been continuously incubated.

In the fields of manufacturing, mining, ports, etc., replication has begun to be promoted.

Hu Houkun said that more than half of 5G to B projects occur in China. At the same time, 5G has found suitable application scenarios in some industries, but has not yet formed a sustainable business model.

In order to promote the new development of 5G, Hu Houkun believes that the industry should actively prepare for the XR business, 5G to B market, and green and low-carbon development.

In the development of XR, the network needs to provide a network delay of no less than 10ms and a downlink rate of more than 4.6Gbps to meet the needs of cloud XR services. This is also one of the important directions of Huawei's 5.5G vision.

At the terminal level, lower barriers to entry and provide lighter, smaller, and cheaper terminal headsets.

In terms of 5G to B, it is necessary to continuously improve network uplink and positioning capabilities and build perception capabilities.

At the same time, in order to cope with complex industry scenarios, through the autonomous driving network, intelligence and automation will be brought into 5G to B's "planning, construction, maintenance, and optimization" stages.
