IMF boss Kristalina Georgiewa, who has come under pressure because of the alleged refinement of a report in favor of China, is allowed to keep her post.

“After examining all the evidence presented,” the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) declared on Monday evening “its full confidence” in the 68-year-old, who would “continue to perform her duties effectively”.

Georgieva welcomed the decision and reiterated that the allegations against her were "unfounded".

In mid-September, an opinion by the law firm WilmerHale, which had been commissioned by the Ethics Committee of the World Bank, became known.

According to this, the Bulgarian is said to have arranged a report on the business climate in China during her time as World Bank deputy chief.

You have put employees under pressure so that China does not slip several places in the management report “Doing Business” from 2018, according to the experts.

The IMF governing body met a total of eight times on the allegations.

According to its own statements, it came to the conclusion that "the information provided during the review does not conclusively demonstrate" that Georgieva had played "an inappropriate role" in the preparation of the report.

Georgieva took over the management of the IMF in October 2019.

She had always denied the allegations.
