By 2035, motorcycle maker Kawasaki Heavy Industries has set a goal to make most of the motorcycles to be launched in developed countries into electric-powered and hybrid vehicles.

The trend of electrification is likely to accelerate not only in automobiles but also in motorcycles.

According to the people concerned, Kawasaki Heavy Industries has set a new goal of electrifying motorcycles, first by 2025, a type that runs only with batteries and a motor like an EV = electric vehicle, and a hybrid car equipped with both an engine and a motor. Will be introduced for more than 10 models.

On top of that, by 2035, we will make most of the motorcycles introduced in developed countries into these two types, and aim to eliminate motorcycles that run only on gasoline engines as much as possible.

This is the first time that Kawasaki Heavy Industries has set a goal for electrification, and it will be a big steer in anticipation of a carbon-free society.

Since the space of the body of a motorcycle is limited, the issue will be how to efficiently install batteries and maintain driving performance in the future.

Regarding the electrification of motorcycles, Yamaha Motor has set a goal of 90% of the types that run only with batteries and motors by 2050, and Honda is also developing a replaceable battery for electric motorcycles. It is proceeding, and the trend of electrification is likely to accelerate not only for automobiles but also for motorcycles.
