The price of electricity in the wholesale market will once again set a new record -seventh so far this month- and will be around 190 euros this Wednesday:

189.9 euros on average per megawatt hour

.

This is an increase of 286% compared to the equivalent day of the previous year (the last Wednesday of the month), when 49.15 euros were paid on average.

After a week of some calm (at least for the levels reached in this crisis, since it did not fall below 150 euros), electricity has started the week soaring, with two of the three highest prices in history since Monday.

Throughout the day there will be several sections above 200 euros MW / h, with a maximum of 208.47 at 9:00 p.m.

The minimum will be at 167.01 that will be marked at 04:00.

Since the previous historical record was broken for the first time in almost 20 years - it had been established in January 2002 - on July 21, this mark has already been exceeded

: eight in August and another eight in what It goes from September.

In other words, the electricity crisis has already set 17 records.

In addition, before the already very obsolete July figure (106.57 euros), only 100 euros per megawatt hour had been exceeded on January 11, 2002 and July 20 of this year, which served both as a warning and as a trigger. output. On Wednesday, 57 days will have already been registered above the three figures, 24 of them in August and 29 -that is, all those that have elapsed- in September.

The Government announced a few weeks ago a package of measures designed to lessen the current impact of these increases in the bill with the aim of ending the year at the same level as in 2018. To do this, it will divert the profits obtained by electricity companies as a result of this situation, something that has not sat well in the sector.

In any case, this 'loan' will be reflected in what is paid from April, when it is expected that the system will not be so stressed.
