President Emmanuel Macron announced during a trip to Lyon on Monday that tips paid by credit card in bars and restaurants would be "free of charge for employers and tax-free for employees".

The government hopes with this tax exemption to restore attractiveness to a sector in need of resources.

The implementation of this measure will be done "in the coming months," said the president during a visit to the International Exhibition of Catering, Hotel and Food (SIRHA) which opens in Lyon. .
