Double-edged offers
The so-called “dynamic” offers, which arrived a few months ago in France, offer prices that change hourly according to the evolution of electricity prices on the wholesale markets.
They make it possible to take advantage of price reductions, depending on the operators, but can also result in sudden price increases.
Electricity prices are currently soaring in Europe.
On the futures market, electricity for delivery in 2022 in France is evolving at a record 109 euros per MWh (the last record dated back to July 2008).
The Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) underlined in June that it would “strictly” frame communication around new offers with dynamic pricing.
"These offers are only suitable for a particular category of consumers, capable of easily adapting their consumption", CRE warned, which advises against it for individuals heating themselves with electricity.
These offers, of which the Dane Barry was the pioneer in France, are still very marginal in the country.
