▲ Worldwide ranking of high-speed Internet speed by year

It has been found that the infrastructure competitiveness of Korea's high-speed Internet, which has been evaluated as the world's best, is steadily declining.

The high-speed Internet speed ranking, which was ranked 2nd in the world just two years ago, has dropped to 7th this year.

According to Ookla, which operates an internet speed measurement site 'Speed Test', on the 23rd, Korea ranked 7th in the world for high-speed internet speed this year, three places lower than last year's 4th place.

The ranking, which was ranked second in 2019, has fallen five places in two years.

Monaco was ranked 1st, followed by Singapore in 2nd, Hong Kong in 3rd, Thailand in 4th, Romania in 5th and 6th, and Switzerland.

Meanwhile, in terms of mobile internet speed, Korea ranked second this year, the same as last year.

The first place was held by the United Arab Emirates for the second year in a row, while Qatar, China, Cyprus, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Australia and Bulgaria ranked third to tenth.

Using Australia and Canada's falling rankings as an example, Ukla analyzed that 5G services are changing the overall mobile internet speed rankings.

High-speed Internet showed a dynamic aspect as many countries fluctuate in the rankings.

In the midst of this, Korea was the only country in the top 10 for both high-speed Internet and mobile Internet this year.

Compared to the global average, Korea's mobile Internet speed is more than 240% and high-speed Internet speed is more than 70% faster.
