The government and KEPCO will announce whether to raise electricity rates for the fourth quarter tomorrow (23rd).

If electricity rates rise, it will be the first increase in about 8 years since November 2013.

The industry observes that electricity rates are highly likely to rise considering the recent increase in power generation fuel costs and KEPCO's deficit.

However, as concerns about inflation are growing, such as the consumer price inflation rate of 2% for five consecutive months, it is predicted that the adjustment will not be large even if the rate is raised.

The quarterly adjustment fee can only be changed up to 3 Won from the previous rate up to 5 Won per kWh.

If the rate is increased by 3 won per kWh, the electricity bill for a four-person household using 350 kWh per month will rise by up to 1,050 won.
